How to Install a Car Screen Protector with an Auto-Alignment Tray
👉 Installing a Screen Protector Without an Auto-Alignment Tray
Installing a screen protector inside a vehicle can feel difficult, especially when you are concerned about dust, alignment or trapped air. An Auto-Alignment Tray provides a more structured way to position the glass and begin the installation.
Autolind Tesla Model Y and Model 3 screen protector packages include a model-specific Auto-Alignment Tray with a dust-control chamber, a squeegee for smoothing out air bubbles and a screen-cleaning kit for preparing the display.
In this guide, we will explain how to prepare the screen, use the Auto-Alignment Tray and smooth out any remaining air pockets. For the best result, work slowly and follow the instructions supplied with your specific product.

How to Install a Screen Protector with an Auto-Alignment Tray
Step 1: Prepare the Vehicle and Display
Park the vehicle in a clean, stable location away from strong airflow. Avoid installing the protector immediately after driving if the cabin or display is very warm.
If your Tesla supports it, enable Screen Clean Mode by going to Controls > Display > Screen Clean Mode. This helps prevent accidental touch input while you clean the display.
Step 2: Clean and De-Dust the Screen
- Use the supplied wet wipe to remove fingerprints, oils and surface residue.
- Dry the display with the supplied microfiber cloth.
- Use the dust-removal stickers to lift any remaining particles from the glass.
- Inspect the screen from different angles before continuing.
Dust control is important because a small particle beneath the glass may create a visible spot or air pocket.
Step 3: Position the Auto-Alignment Tray
- Remove the protective backing from the screen protector as instructed in the product packaging.
- Hold the Auto-Alignment Tray by its sides and check its orientation.
- Place the tray over the screen frame, matching the model-specific edges and corners.
- Make sure the tray is seated evenly before applying pressure.
The Auto-Alignment Tray is designed to help position the protector consistently. It does not replace careful cleaning or the need to confirm the correct screen-size product.
Step 4: Start the Adhesive Application
- Follow the arrow or release area shown on the tray.
- Press and slide your finger down the centre as instructed.
- Allow the adhesive to spread across the display according to the product instructions.
- Wait for the recommended bonding time before removing the tray.
The adhesive may take a short time to settle. Avoid lifting the glass or moving the tray during this stage.
Step 5: Remove the Tray and Smooth the Glass
- Lift the Auto-Alignment Tray gently from the screen.
- Inspect the glass for visible air pockets or areas that have not yet bonded.
- Use the supplied squeegee to move trapped air toward the nearest edge.
- Wrap the squeegee in the microfiber cloth if you need additional surface protection.
Small air pockets may reduce as the adhesive settles. If an air pocket remains, use gentle, controlled pressure rather than pressing aggressively on the display.

Why the Auto-Alignment Tray Helps
- More consistent positioning: The model-specific tray helps guide the protector onto the intended screen area.
- Dust-control design: The chamber helps reduce exposure to airborne dust while the protector is being applied.
- Controlled bubble removal: The included squeegee helps move trapped air toward the edges.
- Complete preparation kit: The wet wipe, microfiber cloth and dust-removal stickers help prepare the display surface.
Tips for a Cleaner Installation
- Wash and dry your hands before handling the glass.
- Keep the vehicle doors and windows closed during installation.
- Do not touch the adhesive side of the protector.
- Check the screen carefully before placing the glass.
- Use light, even pressure with the squeegee.
- Follow the instructions for your exact product model.
